Angry Remote Start Climate Failures

Hello everyone! I am new to Mazda. Loving the car so far but hoping to get an answer or feedback on this issue before bringing it back to dealer.

My 2023 CX-50 TP+ factory installed remote start (via My Mazda app) will not activate climate control from the last setting when turned off. I keep it on Auto and have the seats and wheel linked to Auto climate. What I observe is the Climate Control buttons will flash upon a remote start but the system will not turn on. Everything else works fine, like the radio. I have read about this being an issue before but thought I would try to get a fix or information here before bringing it to Dealer. Also, and I know this is a Mazda thing, but I do not see the logic in turning the car off when you open a door after a remote start. The safety concerns are not diminished by shutting it off. Assuming the car is locked until you get to it, a motivated stranger can still try to enter/drive off in the car at which time you must take corrective action.

But the larger issue for me is why the climate control does not activate with last setting when turned off when a remote start is activated.

Thanks for the time. I will posts updates when necessary.

Update for those interested and who may encounter this problem in the future. I have an appointment Thursday, 12/8. Will post the outcome here.

Default Solved (sort of)

The climate control is actually operational when you remote start. It will kick on to the last setting used when you shut off the car. However, the lights to the climate control console will not turn on but it is operational. So when you get into your car during the winter, the car should be warm despite it stupidly shutting off.

I don't see the concern with the remote start. If someone gets in your car that you remote started, the car shuts off when they either open the door or do anything inside. (I remote started from inside the car and basically anything I did shut off the engine). Sounds like a good security measure to me.

There are other ways to do this without shutting off the engine. One is requiring the car to sense the fob in order to drive it. It is a waste of energy to require a second start and it seems this could be fixed with a sensor/software enhancement.

We have the remote start on our phone app for our 2023 CX5 Turbo & it works great but we don't appreciate that it also unlocks all the doors! Not good when parked in public as anyone can enter the car & take what they want. Our 2023 Hyundai Kona also has remote start via cell phone app (Bluelink) but thankfully doesn't unlock the doors! I wonder if this is a bug in the system that needs to be fixed? This is our 3rd CX5 (2017 2020 2023) & all have had remote start feature but not via cell phone app & the doors didn't unlock with the remote start.. Puzzling..

@Lynn Lavalette Not the way it's supposed to work, doors should remain locked while engine is running and FOB stayed away from car.
Take it to the dealer and demonstrate the issue. Perhaps it needs a TCU software upgrade.
