I was checking out the CX-50 at the local Mazda dealer, and I liked it, but I find the rear view mirror to be too low and obscuring my vision.
My height is 6'2", and even with the seat lowered it still looks like the mirror is almost ½ of the way down on the windshield.
Unlike the CX-5, the mirror on the CX-50 seems to be non-adjustable. Does anyone know of a work-around to this?
Can this mirror on the CX-50 be replaced easily. I am open to all suggestions. Thanks.

I know this sound more or less like you didn't check and double check.....

We have a 2021 CX50 in the shop. I am just over 6ft tall, so I went and sat in the customers Mazda and adjust the seat all the way down and the back slightly at an angle and the rearview was more than adjustable to compensate and not be obstructive? I drive using all 3 mirrors and constantly looking at them as I drive. So, they are all adjusted to work together for be viewing?
One thing I do always notice is 80% or higher owners of vehicle's do not adjust their mirrors for best overall awareness. I realize that you have been driving for decades but it is just a thought to consider. I know if you ever attended a performance driving school /class (I have been to several over the years) that is one of the first thing retaught.

Thanks for the reply. The 2025 rearview mirror that I experienced does not, according to the salesman and me tugging on it, have any adjustment at all.
Maybe it is the optional mirror (which this probably was) that is more or less fixed.
PS Oh yeah I use the mirrors.

 

So I am both SAE and ASE here is the best advice HOW-TOP adjust for the best and safe viewing.
If some of you admit to yourself you don't do this then it will be a start to you learning and start to adjust them differently for the best and safest method which my save your life someday?

All rearview mirrors adjust. I believe it is mandated SAFTY requirement?
Dealership salesman are not the best information source to use that's why there is a service department and an owner's manual.

Let me end this thread on a mostly positive note, in that I drove a CX50 and the mirror was not a problem, as per your suggestion I adjusted the seat and it was not a big problem. (Though the design is still is an oversight with regard to people who are tall). However, I was not completely impressed with the CX50, mostly because of the stiff ride.

 

I’m 6’3” and have no problem with the rear view mirror. It is quite adjustable (you won’t pull it of) if you use a little pressure. I’m at 11,000 blissful driving in mine and find it to be a very nice ride.

 

I've been adjusting my mirrors like this for my 56 years of driving. When I can see the front of cars on either side in my periphery, and everything behind and to the side with the three mirrors, it's perfect. However... the CX-50 is the first car I've owned that I can't do that with. The view out of the rear view mirror isn't wide enough, or the back window doesn't allow enough of a view to the sides, and adjusting the side mirrors to catch those dead spots won't allow them to be very far out. In other words, they have to be adjusted to almost look down the sides of your car. Not good.

 

I always chuckle when some member plays the years doing something card as if that makes it correct?
Funny It was not until I paid a driving school to improve my track speeds and times (Bob Bondurant ) did a finally learn how to properly adjust seats, steering wheel and yup mirrors for the safest way to drive . 1982 @ Laguna Seca Raceway .

Hmmm you do realize that the reason dual mirrors finally became standard features on automobiles? The auto manufacturer found them safer then a single drivers side mirror and center review mirror alone So starting in the 1970 most all American automakers had them standard equipment.
I sat in a CX-50 today and at at almost 6 ft 1 inch tall had now problem properly adjusting the rear and side mirrors for 90 degrees side and combined side and rear 180 degree vision and being able to see possible vehicles in the pillar obstruction. It did also require my adjusting the seat position and steering wheel for best driving position for safest control and not comfort .

Point is years adjust one way does not make it correct. And that there is more to properly setting up your driving position then just comfort.
