I have a 2018 cx-5. The infotainment firmware version is currently 59.00. I need to update it to 70.00 so I can install the retrofit kit that include carplay and Android auto first. How can I do this myself?

You can read the instructions on how to accomplish it. It'll offer you purchase of the correct update to the Nav/maps. And you can download the little software utility to get the update done. There are some less-expensive ones and some people report they've used them fine, but this is the official Mazda one from the Mazda site.

From Mazda, the basic steps are:

• Download the Toolbox to your computer and create an account.
• Eject the SD Card from your Mazda Connect navigation system and insert it into your computer.
• Follow the Mazda Update Toolbox on-screen instructions to update your map.
• Re-insert the SD card into your Mazda Connect navigation system.

Did mine last year. IIRC, it was ~$75.

 

I think he is talking about the cars infotainment system, not navigation sd card updates. To the OP. Look through the forum. There are several threads about doing it. You have to get a link from someone as we can't publish it openly or it will be taken down.
