On highway…it “adapts” by taking off throttle very early and then if necessary you feel it braking….no way would the car brake without lights coming on…I can see them light up in low speed situations in a tunnel…

On my 2023 CX-5 Turbo, the brake lights come on when the adaptive cruise control applies the brakes to slow down. I can see the lights come on at night.

I guess the OP could have an issue with his particular car? I bought a new RDX in 2016. My wife got in after I had been driving the car and didn't know the parking brake was set. She drove home on the highway and the parking brake was completely ruined - no warnings whatsoever. Dealer figured out the connector had never been attached from the factory. All repairs were done under warranty.

I would go in and have your CX-5 looked at to see if all is well. There is another thread a couple below this one about a new CX-5 stalling out. They ended up with a new car.

3) I have i-stop and the brake lights come on when the adaptive cruise control brakes. But when i-stop becomes active, the cruise control in my manual CX-5 is already automatically disabled due to the low speed.
I think sometimes there are language barriers on this forum as this is basic understanding. The only way to prove something like this claim to a forum would be recording it from a following car. Set cruise in the 2024, approach a car that tis traveling much slower, record the brakes not illuminating from the follow car. Simple stuff and would only take a few minutes.

Seems everyone in this discussion reports the brake lights do illuminate when activated in cruise. The claim was the cx-5 is "unsafe at any speed", not "my car might be broken". That claim is false.

Possible, English is not my native language.

I was pointing out that there is no real proof in a video that the adaptive cruise control of the car you follow is actually using the brakes. It's too easy to fake if you have intentions to do so.

I only use it in stop and go traffic! lights work. other than that, I found this feature (and cruise control in general) unnecessary because it often puts me at the (mercy) of other drivers' habits.
Using this feature, If your brake lights do not work in stop and go traffic, have the dealer look into it
