I thought of one other question. If I have to take my CX-5 into the dealership to fix the auto mirror problem, is there some procedure they use to get it working (that maybe I could try). Or is a matter of replacing a defective part? Has anybody had the same problem and had to resort to the dealership?

I thought I had a problem with my driver's side mirror not auto-closing completely on door-locking. I say thought because a couple of weeks ago I decided to re-enable the auto-close-on-locking feature. Voila! Now both mirrors close and re-open perfectly. Cannot take it to the dealer if they are both working perfectly. Oh, well. I guess I'll just have to wait until one or both mirrors decide to act up again and partially close. Still have a year on the new car warranty.

I do not know if the dealers have some sort of classified procedure to try to get a non or partially-functioning mirror working. TSB 09-011/20 does not mention any alternate aside from verifying the problem exists and replacing the part.

skyking . . .

Was just about ready to make an appointment with the local Mazda dealer, but decided to try and re-enable the folding side mirrors just one more time. This time it worked! I have no idea why since I had tried the same routine at least a dozen times. Oh well, my warranty expires in December. Guess the mirrors will continue to work until January.

I can't explain it either. Crazy (for both of us). I am not going to waste time thinking about it. I have kept my auto-folding enabled and to date they've been fine (if I haven't jinxed this!).

That's because your car has been waiting for you to comment on that. Now, wait until the first cold spell next year.
