transmission service
2021 CX-5 Signature 51k miles, turbo
Called dealer where care was purchased new to schedule PA state inspection. Ask them to drain and replace oil in the differentials along with draining trans oil and replace the filter. I was told that Mazda does not recommend draining and replacing the trans oil as it is lifetime, nor replacing the filter as it is a screen. If I insist on the trans work cost would be ~$650 for parts and labor. No gasket is available so silicon would be used.
Anyone have any thoughts on the trans work or have had the dealer do the work?
thanks Gary

This subject is getting so old....
FYI there are at least a dozen and of threads asking about this and likely over 200 or more responses....
Mazda the actual auto manufacture (not the privately owned Mazda dealership) states and only has written in some informational about service what is and is not under a " lifetime" no service required.... They DO NOT state not recommended for fluid changes
???
If your specific dealership is that "lame" and not wanting the service income from you go to an independent service shop. Besides it will likely be less expensive!
If you are at 51K miles and this is your first service the automatic transmission fluid is going to be very contaminated with several not fluid particulates and if you had it analyzed, you would read it should have been done sooner.
Mazda like many auto manufactures know that your power and drivetrain are going to last at least to the end of the warranty so suggesting that on some no service required... think about who wins!!
Changing the fluids will not in any way cause harm and will NOTY void your remaining Mazda warranty

The Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act (P.L. 93-637) is a United States federal law (15 U.S.C. § 2301 et seq.).
MY advice get it done. I also suggest that you send in a small sample to get analyzed. This is for a few reasons, to know what is in the oil, to know if your will need a follow up oil only change or a full fluid replacement. And to have a record just in case some idiot denies you any transmission warranty claim and bases it off a pan oil and filter service.
