Anyways, at the dealership, I passed up on the $150+ rubber mats for the floor mats, but I'm thinking maybe I should have gotten those because I'm having a heck of a time finding any after market floor mats that state they will fit 2021 CX5 models. Has the CX5 design changed much over the years? Or am I able to safely buy 2020 rubber floor mats that will fit?

Thanks!
I just bought a 2021 cx5 gt and ordered weathertech mats for the 2020 model. They fit perfectly.

New WeatherTech FloorLiner HP in 2021 CX-5

The HP seems to be a little heavier, in that there are more ribs and nibs. The 2021 HP mats shown below in this US spec 2021 CX5.
1. Passenger front backside with ribs and nibs
2. Driver front showing toned down logo and half dead pedal coverage
3. Passenger front
4. Rear mat, from passenger side.

FloorLiner HP has ribs and nibs, thicker material

FloorLiner HP Front Passenger

FloorLiner HP Front Driver, NOT full dead pedal coverage

FloorLiner HP Rear Mats

Default WeatherTech TrunkLiner 2021 CX-5

My WeatherTech TrunkLiner arrived today for the wife’s 2021 CX-5. This mat has provision for accessing the cargo hooks as shown by the red circles. The rectangles can be cut out with utility knife to access the floor mounted hooks. The end of the mat near the tailgate has indents that allow the rear mounted hooks to deploy.

Even though more expensive than the OEM mat, which has the added feature of a foldable hinge to access the triangular bins, I do not want to go to the trouble of returning the WeatherTech and buying an OEM mat. I should have researched more thoroughly before I bought. I may have decided to by the OEM mat. The Mazda OEM mat material for the 2016 Mazda 6 I leased was more than adequate.

That's good to know - thanks for posting. I was a bit surprised - maybe I should accustomed to this by now, about how the car dealers are pinching every penny and squeezing every drop of blood they can get out of we customers. I bought my OEM cover at the dealership yesterday and when I got it home and installed it, my initial - and remaining reaction was that this thing is the most cheaply made piece of crap I ever saw. I bet it costs less than $20.00 to manufacture, but whatever it costs, it is terribly cheaply made.

I was considering the All weather mats from the dealership, but I was told they were on backorder with no expected ETA. True? Who knows, so I ordered a set of all weather mats as well as the trunk liner from Weathertech and they should be here this week . Glad it half covers that dead petal because I expect that area to be the area that wears out quickly - maybe I'm wrong though - who knows?

Also found a Mazda dealer who sells parts online and bought the cargo security cover for $191.71, along with the splash guards for $44.82/each pair, front & rear...they come with instructions and are easy to install with a phillips-head screw driver, a socket set and a metric screw to cinch up the jack screw. BTW, I also ordered some regular maintenance items at the same time too.

Enjoy your new ride.
Good to know about the mud guards being easy to install. Do the wheels need to be removed for installation? Can you mention the dealer in question?

Thanks,
B

I live in WA State and it was the dealer in Renton https://www.discountedmazdaparts.com/. Be aware that there is a special fee they "have" to charge if you go pick up the items.

No you don't have to remove the wheels to install the mud guards. But in order to cinch up the jack screws (which is necessary, and cinch them up all the way) you'll need either a metric screw (I had one in my tool box of the right size) or some other way to cinch them up. Overall, it took me about an hour to do them all...about half an hour for the first one and then the others went quickly. They do come with installation instructions too.

Good luck.

Thank you. Would you happen to know what size metric screws are required?

Hi Bob,

I'm sorry, I don't know the screw size. But you could take one of the jack screws down to your local hardware store and get the size of one.

Hope that helps.

Just picked up a pair of front weathertech for $150 CDN. Tried using my old 2016 CX5 mats which fit but snap in holders location were incorrect so decided to buy a new set because of fear of potential movement (slipping) forward and jamming pedals. Otherwise the fit of the old ones seemed Okay. Part no 4411871IM
