Default Roof Rack

Hi All -

we just traded in our old 2013 Mazda 3 on a new 2022 Mazda CX5.

Our old Mazda 3 had the Yakima Landing pad roof rack system that bolted into the roof - loved it - rock solid could take the rack on and off in a minute or two. It looks like our new Cx5 uses the little Yakima clips that wrap around the roof into thee door frame - which I have eventually found takes the paint off an damages the finish. Any other roof rack recommendations?? We use the rack for hauling bikes and canoe etc...

Thanks

The CX-5 will have similar bolt holes in the gutters. You need to either drill holes thru the plastic strip, or buy the replace strips with pre-cut slots.

great info - thanks so how do you find the holes to drill thru the plastic? Do you have to just start peeling that plastic out to find it? Hoping to avoid future water intrusion of course.

No chance of water intrusion.

Yes you need to very carefully pop the plastic gutter trim/strip up and look for the bolt holes.
