Default Questions from New Owner

We just bought a 2016 CX-5 and have a few questions (this is our first Mazda)

-Does Mazda put out software updates for the multimedia system? (Toyota does which is super handy) We have a few features that aren't working right in the SUV so hoping an update will help.

-The Mazda only came with one key fob so we just ordered a replacement (got 20% off on a Black Friday deal...$54!) Anyway, do we have to go to the dealer to get it programmed or is there another way?

Thanks in advance...the CX-5 seems to be well-built and doesn't look like it's 4 years old with 48,000 miles. (Japanese quality..which is why we've been buying Toyota's since the 80's!)

Yes, Mazda does periodically release updated firmware for our infotainment systems. Follow the links below for info. What features are not working on your system?

(1) CX-5 Infotainment | Mazdas247
(1) Firmware 70.00.367A | Mazdas247

$54 is an exceptionally good price! Almost too good to be true. Is this what you ordered?

Keyless Entry Module KDY3-67-5DY | Priority Mazda Parts

Keep in mind that the fob does not come with a key, you'll want that too. Yes, you'll have to visit the dealer to have this programmed for your CX. You'll also have to have the key cut to fit your car.

Yep the volume control on the steering wheel works but you can't change channels. Also, the computer seems to have a problem with the local time. I picked Mountain Time zone and it's off by like 3 hours...even messing with Daylight Savings time options makes it worst.....odd. I had to pick another time zone altogether to get the right local time to show. (Previous owner had somewhere in Europe picked!)

These folks had the sale on key fobs: https://www.keylessentryremotefob.co...Fob-s/6305.htm

Thanks for the software upgrade tip....hopefully it's similar to Toyota (you download the update onto a memory stick, insert it into the USB slot in the vehicle, and select Update from the computer screen....easy peasy)

For the time issue. Select the option to synch with your cell phone and you'll be good to go. It may take a moment to display the correct time, wait it out.

So, after researching, I found our Batteries, Inc. store does key fob programming on the Mazda's for $73! They have the computer tablet that you need and takes just under an hour.

So the CX-5 has a luggage rack but one of the silver coverings on one of the corners is missing...probably got ruined during one of our many hail storms. Anyway, I heard you can buy replacement parts and I only have Toyota contacts for stuff like that.

Does anyone have a Mazda site where I can find a replacement part?
