Just got a new 2016 cx5 after totaling our new 2015 with only 7K, wife got smashed BIG time when idiot blew thru a red light. No on hurt other than seatbelt bruising- a testament to the build technology for sure! So to my point, we have two xtra remote fobs and might as well get them re-programed for the new cx5. Havent been able to find a do it yourself tutorial. I realize i need new key blades cut but how to re- program the fobs? The dealer wants stupid money to do it, would like to by pass that layout of $ if possible. Any leads?

 

Typically a good mobile locksmith can do it for a lot less. Make sure he understands what you need and has the expertise and right equipment before he comes out.

I was just wondering if you had any luck locating the instructions to program your extra keyfobs?

We just purchased a 2016.5 CX-5 that came with 2 keyfobs. We purchased an extra keyfob in the dealer's parts dept, and they told us we could find instructions online to program it ourselves and save the labor cost ($115) that the dealer's service dept would charge. But I can't find instructions for the current keyfob anywhere online or in the owner's manual.

Please advise if you found any instructions or if you had to resort to a mobile locksmith or the dealer.
