Question about roof rails
Greetings!
First post: 2019 CX-5 GTR
I had the dealer install the factory roof rails and cross bars. I don't like to run with the cross bars all the time, so I took them off. There are exposed screw holes in the rails now, which suprises me. I would have expected there to be some trim pieces to fill these holes when the accessories are not in use. The service department told me that there are no trim pieces to fill these holes
My questions:
Is this true? The dealership would never lie to a customer, of course
but does anyone have a similar experience to share?
If you have roof rails, but no accessories installed, what are these holes filled with on your rig? Or are they just open to the weather?
Thanks!

I left my crossbars installed, even when I'm not using them, The consensus seemed to be that leaving the crossbars installed would reduce the fuel economy and cause undue noise. Neither one seemed to be the case for me.
YMMV

our 2017 grand touring looks exactly like the picture.
I am debating adding side bars, however I don't see us using them that much. Found a used OEM pair locally for $85.
If you carry bikes or need additional luggage space then it is an easy decision to invest in a pair.
Note: Some users have complained about additional air noise.
