Default PO480 Code

Hi all, I have a 2017 CX-5 and no check engine lights or other warnings. However, I use a Bluetooth OBD2 tool occasionally to check for codes and monitor tire pressure. Today, the tool detected a code (P0480). Does anyone know what this means? Is it a serious issue? I cleared the code, but it came back, so it seems to be a real problem. The engine does not overheat as well. I’ve attached a screenshot as well.

Owners and DIY with ECU/OBDII scanners are so what I call auto hypochondriacs.

You found the information on the code you should also see the steps on how to confirm and correct it.

When you re-set the DTC all you really did was turn off the engine check light or reset the DTC in the pending area of the ECU not the permanent area which remains there until the actual problem has been resolved.
The reason found the DTC returning is because after 1-5 drive cycles the problem had been rechecked several times in the ECU and found the cause uncorrected so the return of the DTC.

A DIY only not really a professionally based service trouble shooting method so please NO ONE comment on it... turn engine on, then turn the temperature control to lowest AC temperature setting. Turn AC on max. Go to engine compartment and verify that fan(s) are both on and at least seem to be running at full RPM? If not, then you need to do more problem shooting which requires some experience with the use of a Digital Volt ohm meter. So based on you are asking question about this DTC I highly recommend seeking a service shop ASAP before you get a RED engine light from overheating.

That code is a cooling fan issue and it is usually a bad fan or fan relay
You won't know for sure until you get it checked out.
I would do so asap and keep an eye on your temp gauge until you do.
