Over Fender Repair 2013~2016 CX-5
Our 2014 CX-5 AWD had a problem with loose plastic pieces over the wheel. This information will be helpful for Model Years 2103~2106. I noticed that these didn't look broken but that some of the push clips seemed damaged. I posted some pictures below for you of the clips you will need to fix these and where they are positioned. You can obviously buy new parts with clips installed if you wish but if you're dealing with a loose piece this might help you. For reference, you can find the over fender pieces using these part numbers:right front / passenger: KD53-51-W20C-8N, right rear / passenger: KD53-51-W50C-8N, left front / driver KD53-51-W30C-8N, left rear / driver KD53-51-W60C-8N. These are the part numbers for the entire wheel opening molding, which does come with all clips and are ready to install. These cost anywhere from $50 to $75 each and, in most cases, probably don't need to be replaced.
The connector pieces used to install these, and the quantity needed for each wheel piece, are:
KD4551W24 (6)
KD5151W24 (2)
KD5351W24 (3)
If you order online from your local Mazda dealer and pick up you should be able to find these for about $1~$2 each. That puts the cost of repair at $11~$22. And these are EASY to replace. You take off the over wheel molding piece (and there is you tube videos on how to do this - basically remove mud guard if you have them, take out screws and push fasteners adn pull off). The new connectors slide into molded grooves on the over-fender.
I've attached pictures for you of the connectors in the part so you know where to put the 6, 2 & 3. Same for all parts.
Hope this helps someone out. It was an easy repair for me and saved lots of $$$.
Mike
P.S. - I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had trouble with loose trim pieces.
KD53-51-W50C-8N item, as an example, showing the 3 clips you will need.
You will need 6 of these.
You will need 2 of these.
You will need 3 or these.

9 times out of 10, when these flares come loose, its because the tabs on the flares are broken/detached from the flare itself & requires being glued back on or replacement of the actual flare.

I appreciate you getting back to me too. I couldn't find too much information on this and had to get help from guys at a Mazda dealer to figure all this out so thought I'd share.
Have a great week!
Mike
