New CX5 turbo Sig owner/questions
I still don't understand the difference in my mileage vs some others on this and other forums who seem to be getting 28-29MPG (on the MPG computer in the car) on their 2.5T's. Mine sits a little below 24MPG after 10k miles. From the folks saying they get higher mileage it is also mixed use driving as I do and with frequent "aggressive" use of the car. Of course, I have no way to quantify what "aggressive" is for me vs. other forum members.
I wanted the turbo, but the wife wanted better gas mileage.
I can say we get way better mileage in the NA than the turbo.
I'm happy enough with power as well, especially in sport mode with the paddle shifters.
Money saved in gas, keeps my wine collection fully stocked for free

It's honestly the city driving that kills the mileage in my car with a Turbo. My girlfriend has the NA motor and without even trying it gets 25 MPG in the city, and like 30+ on the highway. However on my Turbo the city mileage barely hits 22 unless I feather the throttle. I will say on the highway with cruise control it did get 28 MPG the other day, which was awesome.

The ECU Programming in the MADZA Skyactiv engine is partly developed because most drivers do not drive to attain the best MPG so feather actually cause changing in fueling and timing to achieve a constant engine speed that is mostly using more fuel then simply driving without thinking about trying your best to get the highest MPG. Does that make sense??
Mazda's selling point is the performance of the TURBOCHARGED engine, and they really did not want a N/A feeling on part throttle which may affect review in the negative and results lower sales of the Turb models.
Even the instant MPG is scaled and not actual because you only see up to 99mpg and that is not what the ECU see and could report. It also has a slight delay incorporated which is ever so slight but none the less there. If you monitored only a few PID and retrained your driving technique based on the observation of those PIDs in the ECU you would be likely posting some of the highest MPG with your MAZDA than any other Mazda forum.

For other reading you will not see the MPG average until the engine in the Mazda is fully broken in which is about 25K miles for the Skyactiv engines.

I've posted before that I average about 32MPG locally and up to 36 on the highway.
The Mazda MPG digital readout is pretty spot on with my actually calculations, never been more than .1 to .2 off, at least so far.
But my "city" driving is limited to the 25-35MPH in the local city of 7000 people.
Most everywhere else in the state is 45MPH or more and "the city" is only 5 miles away.
I get better mileage with the Mazda than I did with my Honda CRV or Accord.

This may actually reduce your MPG
