New 2024 cx5 with 4000km. Some questions
For sure, when I go back for the TSB, I will get them to do a more in depth check for a leak, as they really just checked the level and said it was fine. In the meantime I will do the tailpipe check.
I was just more mentioning that I am convinced it is dropping, for one reason or another. I guess I should have made that clear...And hopefully the reason is an easily fixable leak

--- The play is the steering wheel , and whining are NOT normal on a 4000km CX5 , 2/3 qt of oil loss not normal either , Transmission issues you mentioned -- not either -- So since I have had three brand new CX5s in the last three years - DRIVEN TO 30K then traded in for another trim level CX5 -- I can say you likely got a vehicle that was possibly abused before you took delivery --How many miles were on it new ? Get everything documented for future warranty issues or your lemon law application- The CX5s made by the Japanese in Japan would NEVER leave the factory with those issues so somethings not right here - Sorry to say -

your experience unfortunately knowing you and the admittedly changing is up to the next newest toy when technically the engine and transmission is just broken in at 15-18k miles is not supportive evidence for suggesting the next newest owner of you used Mazda won’t be joking a forum like this one asking about problems
Then to suggest or bring in the lemon law…. Maybe you should attend a couple of those before posting information not experienced? .

Just an update for those who care lol.....I took a paper towel to the tailpipe. Barely anything there. I mean very little material was on the papertowel (went in about 7 or 8 inches). What was there seemed more chalky than oily, but honestly, there was so little it was tough to see.
I guess that's a good sign?

So a bit of an update for all those curious lol
I finally had the TSB applied regarding shifting/transmission. Apparently there are different numbers for the same TSB in Canada vs the states, however, it was the same info in the TSB - just a different number. So far the vehicle seems smoother. I haven't put it through too much testing yet, but even my partner said she isn't noticing as much lurching....so that's a win. We always felt like we were getting slightly bumped from behind when slowing down to almost a stop. That is DRASTICALLY diminished.
The oil level hasn't dropped so far after the oil change, so that's also a win. Fingers crossed it stays that way
So all in all, things seem to be smoothing out with our 2024 CX5.

How about the burning oil smell?
while we can wait for the OP to respond to this question if you read or re-read the thread there was never really indication of accurately or actually as in factual smelling "burning oil". Thats what Q&A is for to determine what is real and what is thought to be real from an owner point of view and not a service tech or mechanic.

That weird "burning" smell is getting much less. I don't think I said it was actually oil (if I did I shouldn't have), but it was quite pronounced. It is much much less now.
And just to go back to the TSB I had applied to my '24 CX5 NA. I did a fair amount of driving last night and this morning first thing. It is a night and day difference. No rough shift...no RPM flare shifting into 3rd when engine is cold. It is very smooth. So if others are experiencing what I did which jerky upshifts/downshifts, etc, look into getting this performed. I am SUPER happy I found it online and kept on my dealership to apply it. My results are in line with others that had the TSB applied as well.
