Default New 2016 Mazda CX-5 AWD GT w/ Tech Package Question

Hello there!

My wife and I just bought a 2016 Mazda CX-5 AWD GT w/ Tech Package. We a really happy with it. It drives so well and a huge upgrade from our 2006 Honda Civic. I do have one question that I cannot find an answer anywhere.

Can you upgrade an existing Technology Package to the i-Activsense feature through firmware purchase from Mazda? It seems that most of the hardware is already installed on the Technology package anyway.

Thank you for entertaining my question.

Sorry to say that I don't believe that you can. I think the control buttons on the right side of the the iActive steering wheel are different. Additionally, the steering column light control stalk has an "auto" position that allows automatic headlights on in the dark and automatic dimming of the high beams when oncoming traffic is sensed.
Where are you located?

Hi WAIrgens,

Thank you for your response. What you're saying makes sense and I just find out that there is actually a sensor on the Mazda emblem in front of the grill with the i-Activsense package.

I am located in California.
