Default Need tires for my wifes CX5

My wife's CX5 needs new tires (225/65/R17 H). We live in Southern California so we don't necessarily need A/S tires. We want a somewhat sportive tire because the tires the care with (Yokohama G91) are horrible, to say the least. The are almost completely worn down after only 40k miles and the are so unresponsive, the car feels like a boat. The only somewhat sportive tire I could get is the Falken 950 A/S but my wife doesn't trust that brand. The dealership suggested Yokohama Avid Ascend but from what I've read they're not that great. The Avid Envigor seem to be better but still not quite as good as the Falken. The Falken 950 A/S has the best overall reviews across the board. We looked into more expensive brands as well but our options are heavily limited at local tire places. The guy at Walmart couldn't even get Goodyears for us even though they should be available in that size and speed rating. Maybe I'm missing something here so I figured I'd just ask. I should also add that we're not necessarily looking into a super comfortable tire. It should be responsive and safe. The current tires are noisy as hell already so it can't get any worse.

A lot of owners (myself included) have been happy with General Altimax
RT43 (H-rated) https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...=Touring%20FWD Reasonably priced, quiet ride and good handling. The Yokohamas that came on your CX-5 have a UTQG (wear rating) of only 280. You were lucky to get 40k miles out of them! The Generals are rated at 700, so your mileage will be considerably more.

I checked them out and they seem fine according to the reviews.I'm just wondering, do you know what company produces them? When I look for Altimax I can't find anything.

If we were to get new wheels as well, could we go as big as 20" with a wheel width of 10.5" ? I've been trying to find out if that works but I couldn't find anything.

Call TireRack. They're a good source of information for all things round.
