need help with infotainment system
Hello all,
I am hoping someone can help with this issue I am having.
My 2016 CX-5 started doing the Mazda logo loop thing..... just keeps rebooting to the logo, off, logo and wouldn't startup. The car would start, backup camera works, radio would work, but stuck on the one station. So after some research I read that this is a pretty common issue with these years. So I watched some YouTube videos and reading and went with trying it myself and bought the CH341A programmer and 16 to 8 clip and was able to flash my bios chip and get things reborn. So after installing the infotainment system back into the car and trying to install 70.00.100 with 70.00.100failsafe... it will say.....
'install not successful:
system failure
Make sure that the USB with update
package is inserted.
The system will then automatically retry
the update'
Then changes screen to.....
'Validating system update package
70.00.100'
Then just goes black and back 'install not successful...' screen and 'validating system...' screens.
I see others that do this and the screen changes to 'reinstallation package' screen with a % ready bar installing the firmware.
But mine after a while then goes black and the USB drive is still flashing like it's still being read. But, nothing. I will give it some time and disconnect, but I have to redo the whole process of using the CH341A programmer.
I just don't have the $1800 to go to dealer and have them install a new system and can not find a used one anywhere.
Anyone have any advise of what to try?
I am using a USB 3.0 formatted to FAT32 with the 70.00.100 and the 70.00.100failsafe on at same time, do I have to do them one at a time?
Hopefully someone has some guidance for me
Thank you
B

Sorry but not going to fix it using the method you've chosen, you don't have a booting problem. Something is corrupted in 4Gb NAND and to solve it you'd need extensive Linux filesystem knowledge.
Restore original SIP NOR and update your firmware. I think is safe to say you don't have a hardware issue because your screen stays in "validating..." without rebooting.
Read firmware installation instructions, this is a very important step cannot skip, remove NAV card, press brake every 20 minutes or less, install "failsafe" first and without rebooting or kill power, search again for installation file and load "reinstall". Good luck.

So I tried again with a USB 2.0 stick and now shows this error screen…Install Not Successful:
“The content of the update package is wrong or not sufficient.
Make sure that the USB with update package is inserted.
The system will then automatically retry the update.”
any ideas?
Mazadon….thank you for your response. But, what does “Restore original SIP NOR and update your firmware.” Mean? Lol
Is this fixable. Any link for instructions on how to fix this issue?
Think I should try reinstalling the firmware that would have come with car?
anyone have a link or can send me it. It’s a 2016 cx-5. I think it’s version 55.00.xxx NA

So I found a 2019 cmu, anyone know if it will fit my 2016?
I have read some sites that it might be, but I don't want to drive an hour to get it if it's not. Anyone know if the two years are compatible ?
Thank you
