Angry Mazda CX5 2020 GT Sport Nav- Loss of SatNav & Head Up Display

My Mazda CX5 is just under 3 years old so still under warranty and has done 11,000 miles. On a recent holiday I stopped at a service area and when I came to restart the journey my sat nav and head up display had disappeared and it gave me a message that the Vehicle did not have sat nav installed but I could purchase one at a Mazda dealer. I thought that it could be the SD Card and took it out and when I inserted it I had a message that the card was not recognised so I had to continue my holiday without these aids.
When I next went to fill up with fuel as I started the car everything returned to normal - I did read that someone else had the same problem but the cause was not identified. I will report the problem when I next take the car in for service but I guess if it is ok it will be difficult to identify - anyone else had the same problem? Thanks

You need to search the tsb's for the problem. Even if there is a tsb, chances are 50/50 depending on whether dealer will fix it. Most dealers require problems to be duplicated or else it didn't happen. I even had video of the engine HLA knock that was intermittent and still they wouldn't fix without being able to duplicate it at dealership. Chances are they tell you to pound salt. But at least have it documented in case it would break completely after warranty. That may give you some(not much) leverage to get fixed later.

Default Mazda-cx5-2020-gt-sport nav - Loss od Sat Nav and Head up display

Thanks for your reply and posting it here was for the reason that you have stated. I previously had a Mazda 6 with an intermittent wing mirror problem and was in the same situation and sold the car because Mazda would not fix it.
I am hoping that Mazda do look at this forum.
Regards

Try cleaning the contacts on the sd card if it recurs.

I did try that but I only had some window cleaner with me and it still rejected the card. Thanks for suggestion I will go and clean it with some electrical contact cleaner that I have at home.

A pencil eraser works pretty well.

This may be of interest to both members and Mazda: Before I first purchased my Mazda 6 I had a Honda CRV that I purchased from new and the only problem that I had in 5 years was when, at 5 years the Sat Nav malfunctioned and the Honda Dealer quoted me £1,300 to replace it and I thought that I would write to Honda just to ask their advice and to my amazement they responded as follows " We would not expect an item of this quality to fail in this period of time and will replace it at our cost". I was truly surprised as I had not expected this but I think that this really shows excellent customer service. When I had a problem with the wing mirror on my Mazda 6 I found Mazda UK very unhelpful until I informed them that I was selling the car and they only offered help after I had sold the car. I am hoping that their customer service has improved.

When you last updated your map via your PC, a back up will have been created on your hard drive. Purchase a new high
quality SD and load back up on to that.

Does this also affect the HUD display?
