I have a 2021 CX5 GT Turbo with low mileage, 3000 miles.
recently the infotainment screen has gone black a few times when using Apple car play.
if you turn the engine off and back on the screen goes back to normal.
if anyone else has experienced this problem, please let me know.

 

Are you on the 11038 firmware? If not try updating to it.

 

Okay, here's the likely problem: You accidentally turned off the system. This can happen when you put something down on the volume button (next to the big button that runs the Mazda Connect infotainment setup). So what you do is turn on the engine and hold down the volume button for about 5 seconds. The system will be restored.

This happened to me and the 800 number Mazda people did not know the answer. I had to speak to someone in the service department of my dealer.
