LOTS of noise going over speed humps from front end
Hey all,
Might as well post this as well. Again, we have a 2024 CX5 with 10,000km on it. We are getting a LOT of noise (assuming suspension) during regular driving. I'll try to summarize:
1. Going over a speed hump. Comes from the front. Sounds very loud. Doesn't really make noise over over little bumps or holes in the road - it's more large humps in the road. Back doesn't seem to do it.
2. Say I'm at a stop sign on an incline and want to turn left. During the the turn, we will 99% of the time hear a single clunk or pop from the rear. It's hard to pinpoint which side. WE made sure to take everything out of the vehcile that could be rolling around or making noise.
3. This one is tough to describe. Imagine going about 25km/h. You tap the gas and hear almost a metallic click or clunk coming form somewhere in the engine area. This will happen when you let the foot off the gas as well. I can't tell if it's the weight of the car shifting. It is way more subtle than the other noises, but if it's something like a mount, it could be related as going over speed humps cause motion as well
I haven't mentioned #3 to Mazda yet, but did take the tech for a test drive and he confirmed #1 and #2. They said they tightened all the cowl bolts as that sometimes caused come noise and they found a TSB for the right rear shock mount. They replaced it. Didn't do a thing.
They are now wanting to replace the front strut I think (or shock)
Does anyone have a similar issue? Could this be a mount or like a bushing in a control arm or something? This cx5 is barely over 1 year old and it sounds pretty bad. Are there any tests I can do at home?
Thanks again!
Dave

Except for you, I've not heard or read about any issues, including myself.
I wouldn't worry about looking for cause as you are under warranty and it is up to them to find and fix the issue(s) at no cost to you.
The warranty is supposed to relieve you from worrying and stressing until such time they cannot fix the problems.
You need to tell them everything, even #3, and have them take care of it while you sit back and have a Tim's Big Spruce IPA or the like

Man I do like Big Spruce! Great brewery
it's more of an annoyance always bringng the vehicle in. Maybe I'll see if they can just keep it until the find the issue and get a loaner or something....

Dave, this a question and concern that should be addressed at either the Mazda service department or an independent service shop so you and the Technician can go on a test drive, and you can point pout exactly what you feel may be a concern.
There really is to many variables that your description could be from normal to a part that is failing.
Finding members with all the like condition you are describing is not the same as your specific and personal description of concern.
Dealer service departments are not all bad and there actually are some that are very customer service experienced to understand and listen to you and your concerns.
