So last night I got the Low battery warning on my key fob. I youtube replacement and put in a new battery, Then I noticed a rubber O ring on the counter. I saved it but did not know where it came from. Last night I hit the lock button from inside the house and the lights flashed and doors locked. This morning I try to get in the care and the battery was low. I googled key fob replacement again and this time I got one that talked about. The O ring and that it needed to be under the battery prior to reassembling. I used my other fob to drive in this morning.

Question, Do you think the other Fob will be damaged from the omission of the o ring? Again I saved it and will replace it when I get home. I just hope I have not screwed up my fob

 

I might be going crazy but I do not remember a rubber O ring being inside of the key fobs...

 

There is on the 2023s , it shows on the Mazda Dealer site. It is under the battery itself

 

Wow I had no clue. On the 2021 key fobs they dont have any.

 

Update: I discovered the issue was that my FOB had gone into power save mode. See this article" Key fob low battery on dash but new batteries? | Mazdas247" I followed the instructions and all is good now

6 months ago i had my Landrover Defender key fob working for a month and i needed to replace the cr2032
i then bought Kodak max lithuim and they have been working well for over 4 months

Fun prank: When someone has disassembled something and leaves for a minute, put some small random part there, like a small washer or an o-ring and then watch.
