I have a 2016 CX-5. Ever since upgrading my iPhone to iOS 11 I am unable to play musing on my car stereo using USB/Lightning cable. I get connection error and the attempt times out when I connect my phone over the USB cable. I am assuming a new file system on the iPhone is not playing well with the car stereos. What is weird is that music will play from Google Play app over USB cable. Only Apple music is affected. Moreover, the Blutooth connection to the car stereo is very sluggish. The music will finally play through blutooth after few minutes but the whole experience is very frustrating.

Does anyone have any input they are willing to share?
