Default indicator on outside side mirror

On the upper left of my driver-side outside mirror, there are a couple of orange indicator lights that pop up. What are they? Can't find any reference to them in the manual. They're trying to tell me something, but I don't know what it is.

OK, thank you. Now I see it in the manual - "BSM: Blind Spot Monitoring System". To me, it's just a distraction, so I turned it off in Settings/Safety. In the manual, under "side view mirrors", it doesn't refer to BSM at all. You would'a thought ...

The BSM has an audible beep alarm and the lights.
They are basically there to warn those who are hearing impaired.
