Highest Mileage 2017 CX-5

Very helpful Tricia. Thank you. About to purchase a 2018 GT company car as well with 90k. Heard some funny noises as I was taking turns and slowing down - going to have the dealer look at it but aside from that, a huge relief to know it’s going well with that many miles.

Most Japanese cars will last 250,000 miles or more without too many issues when serviced properly. The “100,000 mile” measure is truly a thing of the 20th century. Also, you have to asses whether the miles are mostly highway vs. city. Huge difference. If it’s a relatively new car, like your 2018, then surely those are highway miles, which are usually super gentle on the drivetrain. Having said this, you are wise to ask anyway as some vehicles with a good name have particular and not so inexpensive issues. For example, Subaru. Right around 120,000 miles you’ll be dealing with a head gasket issue, just like cars back in the 1960’s! And because of the boxer engine design, they have 2 head gaskets. Multiply $1800 x 2 and that’s a big surprise. I’ve owned 2 Hondas and got 250,000 miles out of them, and sold them in good running condition. I just donated my 2006 Infinity M-35 with 200,000 miles and in good condition. Yes, some steering components were getting loose, but all to be expected. Minor issues occurring on high quality Japanese cars after 150,000 miles are alternators, water pumps, radiator fans, If the car is equipped with a timing belt, that usually requires replacement at about 100,000 miles or a little more. These are minor inconveniences when compared to dropping $25k-$40k for a new car every 100,000 miles. The interesting thing is a lot of people still have this old 100,000 mile number in their head so you can find some really good values on quality brands. Good luck to you!

Ya sorry but the 100K mark is still an industry standard for the condition of most all vehicles. Unfortunately most of what you said about vehicle is not really what goes on and an exception to the rule but I can understand that you do not work in any capacity in the automotive industry!
I have to work at keeping most vehicles I own in the capacity of daily drivers in top running condition and I have the experience and resources to do this . I have a long history working on customers vehicles that do not do well when coming close to 10 years and 1000k miles . ALL service shops could support this fact I state. People in general do not get what you posted from vehicles in the real world
Sorry you are either like me with regards to personal vehicles we own and keep on on not only the maintenance schedule but preventative maintenance as well. So really I have to say is while your response is well written it is not by any means factual or reality !
The rest of your information is also not the best on a larger scaled labor and parts rate. maybe you should get with someone that has flat rate labor information in LA and CA and then compare it to say NY or FLA or TX. They are all different. Not mention the parts cost. Ca is a POS with the GOV who dictates the taxes and restrictions that raise the cost of everything related to gasoline powered vehicles. But don't get me in a debate of politics on a forum! Unless you own a Auto motive related business and have the same frame of reference for what CA does to use!!!
Ok then I have said my piece ........
LOL
FYI I did not even get into other inaccurate comments on that response that was made... wow!
Remember we both live in CA and I know the condition of most of the highways ROLMAO!!!!!!!!!
