Hello -
we have narrowed our search to the Mazda CX-5 and have been looking at 2017’s mostly but they are lightly more than what I was wanting to spend (first car for my 16 year old).

I know that 2017 was a “refresh year” for the CX-5 - aside from the aesthetic differences, what are the main differences between the ‘16 and ‘17? Are there any drawbacks to the ‘16 (i.e. issues) or major upgrades in the ‘17 That make the 2017s worth the extra money? There seems to be a sizable price difference from ‘16 to ‘17 so it has me thinking we should get a 2016.

I think one main differentiation is road noise. The 2017 has better insulation. Also, the cabin looks more luxurious; better material has been used on the 2017. So if your budget allows, I would definitely go with the 2017. Just my 2 cents.

 

Crash tests might be better for 2017 as well, so I would check that out.
