Default Help with Roof gutter strip hole repair

Hi All,

After having a Mazda Astina SP20 for my first car, then a CX-7 for the second, I now am a proud owner of a 2017 CX-5 Akera. Loving Mazda!! The problem I have is that the previous owner of the CX-5 had roof racks that were bolted onto the roof but he sold the car without the roof racks. So I now have 4 holes in the plastic gutter strip, what I can see is that there is metal under the plastic strip (that is part of the plastic strip) which is starting to rust. What is the best way to repair the strips to cover the hole? I was thinking of using something like Selley's roof silicon sealant. Any other better ideas without having to fork out some cash on new plastic strips?

Can you take a photo? All the cx5s I've seen have plastic caps that cover up the roof rack mounting points.

That is really buggered. You need to remove the plastic strips to check the condition of the roof underneath. . I would replace the strips.

Doesn't look to flash does it. Thanks for your reply, I think I'll replace them and get a price from Mazda to see what it costs to replace.
