Default Help Identifying sensor

Hi, just purchased a 2014 CX-5 2.2 diesel sport nav.

There's a few minor things wrong with it, missing trims, etc. all of which I've managed to source or can fix. But one item, that's more of an annoyance than a problem, is this unidentified sensor with a missing cover.

Please see the attached image. My CX-5 is a RHD and this sensor is on top of the dash, forward near the windscreen, on the passenger side. Not sure what it is? Looks like a light sensor but that should be in the windscreen in front of the rear view mirror. Maybe something to to do with the alarm? I can't see it detailed in the manual and google searches have proved fruitless. If I know what it is, I might be better able to search for a replacement cap.

Thanks everybody, appreciate any help.

Martin

I believe that is the light sensor for the automatic headlights. My 2014 GT also has it on the passenger side (LHD) and the cap is just a roundish black colored plastic. I'm sure that it's translucent, but it just looks like black plastic.
