Default Heater In 2013 2.5

Hi, we've just purchased a 2013 CX-5 and the heater is warmer on the passenger side and blows cool on the driver's side. We are in New Zealand so driver is on the right hand side.

The warmer air that does come out isn't very hot.

Does anyone have any ideas on what we could do to fix this?

Thanks

Sounds like the A/C system needs to be recharged. You might have a leak in the system, so have that checked.

Cool

How would the A/C being low on refrigerant make the heater blow cold? The most likely (but not the only) cause is an error in the air path valves not directing hot air to the correct vents. The not-so-hot hot air could be diluted with cold outside air. It’s late Fall in the OP’s world.

I misread the OP's post missing that he was in New Zealand and confusing it with another post about the A/C which he would not be running at this time of the year as we are here. This sounds more like a blend door problem, but I'm not that familiar with the CX5 heating system to know if it has blend doors for each side. It probably does if he has the dual system, but possibly not if he does not have it. In my Jeep, the blend door would be the thing I would be looking at.

We do have the dual control in this car. When I've got the heat blowing in the windscreen it does the same thing. Warm on the passenger side and cold on the driver's side.

Also the passenger side isn't as hot as what I'd expect it to be. Our old 2007 Atenza blew much hotter when the heater was on.

There could also be air in the system which could cause cold air from the heater and differential temperatures.
