does anyone know what kind of oil is in a 2025 cx-5 2.5 non-turbo from the factory?...i know some manufacturers put in semi synthetic/synthetic blend to help the piston rings seat from the factory...

This question can vary depending on the actual country you purchased your Mazda from!
As for your engine break-in oil posting not sure which if any auto manufacture has done that since about 2000? That may be someone posting it on the internet and now it is a false fact? I would like to see where you got that information just to maybe update my knowledge if that were a empirical fact?

There is also a misconception about what to use in any engine. As long as the oil used meets the basic requirements set by the Auto manufacture and the exact word REQUIRED is not in the must use only this oil then you as a consumer can not only use your choice brand of oil but can also use the viscosity based on your operating environment and use which is technically the proper way to choose an oil viscosity for your engine. The auto manufactures just decided years ago the formulas to figure that simple task was to complicated for the average consumer so they simplified it. The wording makes you think you can only use what is on the oil filler cap.

Or you can use the eight ball if temperature values and charts are too difficult for some?

my mazda was bought in the US...do you know what comes in it from the factory?

the synthetic blend from the factory was something i had read about subaru in the past...not sure if it is still done now and not sure where i read it at this point...they came with a synthetic blend from the factory but require full synthetic according to the manual...

from 2013 subaru legacy manual

"0W-20 synthetic oil is the required oil
for optimum engine performance and
protection. Conventional oil may be
used if synthetic oil is unavailable.

*: If 0W-20 synthetic oil is not available,
5W-30 or 5W-40 conventional oil may
be used if replenishment is needed but
should be changed to 0W-20 synthetic
oil at the next oil change."

As far as I am aware of your Mazda came with what is on the oil cap. There is no data or actual statement of facts about what the oil actually is in your Mada and Mazda will state your question by replying what is is on the oil cap unless the dealership changed it depending on your location like say if you lived in Alaska?
Just curious why this is so important? Please state if there is a concern?

If you really want an empirical answer, then get a small sample and send it in and have it analyzed. then you will not only know for sure but you will see all the other material not normally in a bottle of Mazda engine oil in your new oil from newly assembled. LOL

if it came with blended oil i may consider doing my first few oil changes with synthetic blend and reduce the interval and then switch to full synthetic and increase the interval...trying to reduce/avoid the chance of oil consumption when i get to higher mileages

If you just use what the manual asks for (viscocity and interval) you shouldn't have any issues.

I have no clue what your logical thinking is. I just gave you informational tools so you can take them and have a better understanding of information???????????????????

Why in the world would you after all I responded even think about using anything but the best oil available ,especially during the most important part of the new engine break in period????

*There are exact service requirements so you don't void the WARRANTY should an issue happen.
For the most part yes never having any issues that depends and is actually outlined in more detail when you talk directly to HOT lines for service information available from auto manufacturers.
Unfortunately, the viscosities used and recommended from A-Z auto manufactures are to achieve the lowest Emissions and the highest MPG. Longevity of the engine is up to the WARRANTY period has expired then you get to learn real world use of suggested and recommend parts from auto manufactures.

i asked a simple question about what oil was in the engine from the factory...a simple "i don't know" answer would have been sufficient...my first oil change will be with full synthetic 0w-20, probably pennzoil platinum...if i found that it was synthetic blend from the factory i may have done my first short interval 3k mi oil change with synthetic blend instead and then switched to full synthetic for the 2nd oil change at the 5k mi mark just for some piston ring swell...if i had decided to do my first oil change at the 5k mi mark (as the severe driving conditions maintenance schedule states) with full synthetic it would have been exactly the same outcome if there was already synthetic blend oil in it from the factory...i don't plan to spend money getting the oil analyzed just to find out what type of oil is in it as it's not that important to me

This is par for the course, my man. You will see if you stay on the forum long enough...

Even my completely logical answer was not agreed with. Very hard to come to an agreement with some on this forum.

i won't be going anywhere until i unload this car after it has nothing left to give...5th vehicle i have owned at almost 44 ('87 honda civic, '99 honda civic, '05 mazda 6 & '13 subaru legacy)...hoping for 250k+ miles out of this one and may even stick around after that if i pick up another mazda...i'm a member on approx. 25+ car, motorcycle, firearm, scooter, dog, lawn mower, snow blower, chainsaw forums (some since the early 2000s) but only typically more active on the couple vehicle forums that my family owns and 1 regional motorcycle forum...the others i check into once in a while to see what's going on...i like to learn and don't get riled up by people on the internet/forums that i have never met...most people are easier to deal with in person cause they wouldn't speak the same way to your face as they type behind a computer screen but there's always a few on each forum...no worries, pretty used to it at this point
