E After replacing the high pressure fuel pump in my daughter's 2016 CX-5 (2.5L), then re-assembling everything I had to move out of the way, I ended up with this extra connector of course. It's actually smaller than it looks in the photo, and connected into a harness that doesn't allow it to go very far from where it is. Any ideas where this goes?
It always really helps to at least post the year and any other vital information so members don't have to look at the thread area and read only the response?
Also for other reading this that questionable connector would have been less likely not missed if a small piece of masking tape with a number for attached to both ends.
A 3 terminal connector could be a few things so best idea at this point is start the engine and see what does not work. If it is ECU monitored, you will get a DTC and know exactly where it goes. If it is HVAC related your AC wont work, and if it is emission related you will get a DTC and the monitors will be in fault or both? But you will need a Diagnostic scanner to connect and go into the ECU.
Or find a wiring schematic on your exact year and model Mazda

Thank you. I'd forgotten to add that this is a 2016 CX-5 2.5L.
I actually resolved the issue by blindly feeling around everywhere in the vicinity, and finally coming across an open connector on or near the fuel rail. Plugged it in and found that the new fuel pump solved all the problems, no more codes being thrown by the ECU.
Had I not found the open socket, I would have followed your troubleshooting technique.
