Distorted Infotainment Screen, goes black and reboots too
Hi everyone,
Has anyone seen this issue with their CX-5?..., mine is a 2016 GT. It has mostly been distorted, sometimes it will just show the Mazda symbol, or be completely black and also will restart. I have tried restarting it too (holding back - nav + mute). I have taken it to the dealer and its being looked in too, but so far they have mentioned possible interference if I had a something after market installed. I only have a trailer hitch on, and was installed by the dealer.

Try to take out navicard, and rinse the contacts on card, also the contacts in the reader - use some hard paper in slot.
Rinse the contacts on the card? As in holding the card under a steam of water? Surely you can't mean that? Not only will that do nothing beneficial for the card but in all likelihood it will ruin that SD card!
With the car off eject the SD card and start the car and see what's what. The Nav won't work of course but you can see if the system boots properly at least.
Does the SD card affect not only the navigation, but the actual display appearance too?
It seems to work fine (is not sluggish, slow to start etc), but the display is distorted and in any screen - radio / media, in reverse with the back up camera (is fuzzy) etc. In addition to it being distorted, sometimes it will be black / no display or it will just show the Mazda symbol, and the radio still plays.
I took the maps SD card out and turned it on without the card and it's still distorted. It's distorted in every screen, not just maps.
The dealer didn't find anything when they diagnosed it so the OS must be up to date too.
They feel the next step if there's no interference from a aftermarket product is replacing the entire infotainment system..... but of course I was hoping for something else other than a $2000 bill.
