Default CX5 power windows

Hello,

I am new to this site and was wondering if anyone has insight on how to fix a drivers side power window. Mine is not working and when I took it to the dealership a few weeks ago he told me it was a faulty motor, but was going to charge me $360 dollars to fix it. It seemed like a pretty easy fix so I opted to buy a motor and install it myself. After doing this though I found there wasn't a problem with the motor at all, the new one still didn't work plus I connected the old one to the passenger side window and the old motor worked. I check all the fuses and the are all fine so I assumed maybe there is an issue with main power switch. I just connected that yesterday but still nothing is working, you don't even hear the motor turning. For some reason there is no power going to the motor. I found another shop that is willing to fix it for $215, so I'm wondering if the effort of my fixing is worth? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Graeme

Isn't your CX5 still under warranty?

3yrs or 100,000kms / 60,000miles ?

I was told at the dealership that my warranty for electrical parts was out, 36,000 miles. I do a lot of travel for work so I've already racked up over 40,000 on it, but does this sound right? I can be a little too trustworthy sometimes and just assumed he was telling me the truth.

He's right; beyond 36k miles the only thing that's covered by Mazda is the drivetrain. Get another estimate from a reputable electrical shop. I'll bet it's something relatively simple that can be fixed for less than $200.

I would suggest contacting Mazda USA direct & request some customer support/assistance.

Have you checked for grounding or shorts?
