CX5 Oil Capacity
I always have checked the oil on the dip stick when in the garage. After driving the new car for another 4000 miles I changed the oil and filter and used a five quart jug, but just used 4.5 quarts. The dip stick comes up one quart low so I add the entire contents of the five quart jug.
Since the owners manual states 4.8 w /filter as an approximate amount, I found this odd. I have never had a 4 cyl engine take more than 4.5 quarts.
Is this normal for the CX5?

Both the 2.0 and the 2.5 come up a little short if you use the recommended amount in an oil change. This has been addressed at length on another CX-5 forum. What you've noticed is perfectly normal for this engine.
2.0 engine takes about 4.3 ltrs.
2.5 engine takes about 4.5ltrs.
2.2D engine takes about 5.1ltrs.
It all depends on how much oil you drain out. & Make sure its warmed up before hand.
To check the oil correctly.
Make sure you go for a good drive, get the engine hot, park up on a flat surface, turn the engine off, wait 5 minutes, then check the oil level.
