CX5 2012 Camshaft issues connected to 2019 recall?
Hi everyone!
I bought a 2nd hand 2012 Diesel CX5 with 145k that had Vacuum Pump, Fuel Hose replaced Intake Shutter Valve check and Injector hardware retaining torque checked.
The Vacuum Pump has been replaced 3x times at 70k, 109k, and 145k (now).
Had an issue where it would jitter violent engine shaking with acceleration and would clear with consistent 5k RPM revving.
Got an independent review and the camshafts are worn very badly, is the recall meant to have fixed that, could the reason for some many vacuum pumps be camshaft wear?
Is it likely the recall only fixed symptoms? Recall in question was in NZ AK001 2019.
Recall:
Statement:
There is the possibility that on a limited number of vehicles, the Engine Fuel Injector Seal may leak resulting in carbon deposits accumulating in the engine. As a result, your vehicle could experience the following: a gradual drop of engine performance, multiple warning lights displayed in the driver’s instrument cluster, a gradual increase in vehicle stopping distance or mechanical damage to the engine, resulting in stall with no re-start.

have no idea what the recall is you need to post the information of that recall?
You should post the miles on your Mazda and maybe what the last basic service was done and when.
Also help regarding diesels what country you are in.
2012 is generally out of all recalls unless it was safety related but without you posting basic information is really difficult to try to help answer you. Not to mention if a service shop has physically already diagnosed the issue they have the advantage of actually testing and accumulating information based on physically having your Mazda there to check for and diagnose concerns and problems>

The recall you refer to did not involve anything related to the camshaft.
The vacuum pump is driven of the end of the camshaft & the lobe wear would not affect the operation/drive of the vacuum pump.
