Hi Guys, I have a 2016 CX-5 and having high RPM once I turn on after long time (4 or 5 hours) . Does anyone having this issue on your CX-5 ?

The CX-5 has a fast idle on start-up if the engine has cooled down.
But it returns back to normal idle RPM once it reaches correct temp which is normally fairly quickly.

 

OP, what engine? Exactly what is the rpm that you feel is too high?

Cold start up on my CX-5 gets me 1000-1200 rpm. The higher rpm is during cold weather.
Summer it's around 1000-1100.
That high rpm might cause excessive wear. Check with dealer on that issue.

Since you engine is fuel injected and doesn't have a choke, the computer will go into "open loop" mode. It injects a little more fuel to warm the engine up. What do you consider high rpm and when does it do it and when doesn't it?

 

Does your CX have a diesel engine like the OP (apparently) has? We still need the OP to answer a few questions as he hasn’t bothered to come back to the forum since he posted several days ago.
