Default CX-5 - Gear selector cable wear & tear

182 CX-5. Milage 50k
Broke down last week... The gear selector cables had to be replaced due to wear and tear.
Anyone experience this problem?
Very disappointing with such a new car.

What year is your CX? 50k km or miles? I don’t remember reading many/any posts on this topic.

31k miles? That is strange. I assume it was replaced under warranty? I have never heard of this issue. Likely an outlier.

@PaulB15 , just wondering what the cost of the repairs/swap happened to be.

My 2016 CX-5 will hit 100Kmi next year. It'll be something I'd like to monitor and catch, if degrading on my own car.

For what, a couple of cables, sensors, fittings/seals, and a few other pieces, correct tensioning I'm assuming ...?

Doesn't surprise me that digging around under there would be several hundred shekels.

My reason for asking is that my own CX-5 will soon be approaching 100Kmi and this sort of thing will be one of the items I add to the list for checking, to keep ahead of the maintenance curve.

PaulB15

Did you try contacting Mazda UK for out-of-warranty assistance?

Just had it happen to me for the second time this year on my 2018. Unbelievable.
