Default Broken Power Seat Shaft

Hi all, Bob from Northern VA here. After 5 years of worry free driving, the GF's CX-5 finally had a problem.
The drive shaft that comes out of the short side (closest to the door) of her power seat motor is broken. I pulled the entire unit, motor and both shafts, and I now either need another power seat adjust unit, or a new shaft. I did a search here but did not find anything, although an internet search shows this as a fairly common problem.

Guessing that someone here has had the same issue, and found a solution.

OR, is there anyone here who might know where I could get the parts? A quick internet search showed Mazda is willing to take 600 bucks from me to sell me an enitire bottom rack, but hell I cannot even get mine out of the car, due to the back seat bolts being covered.

Help?

I've seen issues with the longer shaft/cable before but not the shorter one. The longer cable is listed in a service bulletin but not the short cable.

Your best bet might be a second seat to rob parts from. or butcher your seat with a power saw to access the bolts and replace with a 2nd hand seat.

I am currently having the same problem with my 2015 cx5 drivers seat. I to cannot get to the rear seat bolts either. I bought the longer cable thinking that was the problem, but I can see that the shorter braded cable is broken. Mazda has a service warranty bulletin issued in 2016 to fix it, but of course my cx5 is out of warranty. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet & take it to the dealer.

A seller on ebay is selling a 1/4" x 1/4" x 2" steel bar to replace the braided cable for $25.00. I am unable to get the motor out though.

How did you know that the rails were perfectly aligned so that there's no twisting once the new worm gear was replaced? Thanks.
