Default Bringing Car in for Service after DUffy Settlement

Hello I have a 2018 CX-5 and now that the sun is out again the infotainment system is once again driving me bonkers with the ghosting and general inconsistent responsiveness.

I was just wondering if anyone has brought their car in to a dealership service center in the wake of the Duffy Settlement and if these issues were fixed and covered under the terms of the settlement.

I'm not sure how to describe the situation to the service desk when making an appointment while also indicating I expect the repair to be free.

Anyone else had a chance to bring their car in and did it fix the issues?

From the Duffy settlement website:

"All current owners or lessees of Class Vehicles will automatically receive a LWE for potential software updates or necessary connectivity master unit (CMU) repairs or replacements for a period of 24 months from either the expiration of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, or for Class Vehicles for which the New Vehicle Limited Warranty has expired, the Limited Warranty Extension will run from February 17, 2025, the date the Court entered the preliminary approval order."

I would contact your dealer and ask what they will cover for you. Maybe you need a new CMU?

I would be cautious about going to any Mazda dealership (this also applies to any settlement regarding a auto manufacture) when it comes to settlements. But rather contact Mazda USA or MAZDA corp direct and get them to set the arraignment with the dealerships.
Just saying .... keep in mind dealerships are technically or legally not obligated unless a preapproval is given from the auto manufacture to perform any settlement services. mainly because of the agreement from the independent ownership of the dealership to the auto manufacture regarding reimbursement labor and parts cost.

I also would not suggest to any member what they may or may not get within the settlement details. In other words, don't assume or guess for a person that is directly in the category of possibly getting the settlement terms.

Maybe this is best answered by contacting Mazda direct and possibly getting advice and action recommendations from an attorney.

Been there done this a few times both sides of the table and know the drill well!!!

I just quoted exactly what the details were from the website. This is also from the website (so the OP IS included in the settlement):

Who Is in the Settlement Class?

All persons or entities who purchased or leased certain Mazda vehicle models (listed below) in the United States or its territories.

The following models are covered by the Settlement: Mazda2 model years 2016–2022, Mazda3 model years 2014-2018, Mazda6 model years 2016-2021, CX-3 model years 2016-2021, CX-5 model years 2016-2020, CX-9 model years 2016-2020, and MX-5 model years 2016-2023.

Certainly, one could call Mazda USA for guidance, but dealers should be getting reimbursed for this as Mazda has agreed to it. Who, if not the dealer. would perform this settlement repair work?

It does not work that way. and not sure why you think that an * independently owned businessin this case which is Mazda dealership are legally bound to comply? If I owned a dealership business and knowing the horse crap having to do with settlements, I would first get the pre approval for full compensation arrangement in advance and know exactly all the details of the reimbursement prior to do any settlement action services. You do realize that this type of service work is the same as warranty work in which the dealerships do not get their normal hourly rates. It is less than all other service work. So that means either they assign a less experienced service mechanic or assign one that is working by the job flat rate and not the reduced hourly labor rate that the dealership gets the compensation form warranty and other things like this conversation about settlement service work.

I am an independent Certified Auto Tech and you know that and I have stated a few times on this forum and Mazda as well a few other platforms have been allowed by some auto manufactures like Mazda perform warranty service work with few exceptions like safety recalls . So yes there are some independent service shops that may employee someone like me that can do warranty service work. But there are BIG reasons why I really no longer will do them and that is (see green above)

I did And I seem to be having the same problem. I called Mazda directly and described the situation and I am Sure they took notes. I was then asked to contact the Mazda experience team and was told at this point there is not anything that can be reimbursed . After calling them I was even more confused. I then Called the Mazda dealer were I had the Diagnostic done (they found that I had an aftermarket Navigation chip advised me to leave it out and use my Apple car play) and told the service advisor and was told to give it about a week and see if there is a difference and call them back if not

Are you stalking people again Callisto?

You're a curious bloke, right? Me too!

Can you please tell me how it is that you're able to look at user IP addresses on this forum? From what I gather, only someone with admin rights is able to do this. I could be wrong though and if I am, I'm sure that you'll point this out.
