Just like it is knowing you were recently banned from another Mazda Forum.
Most knowledgeable computer geeks can find and track the IP address of anyone on any forum and from there find their actual name, address, phone number and any other type of personal information they may require.

Example: I once had a motorcycle club forum member constantly posting against forum rules.
He thought he was some type of funny guy but was in reality just a very nasty bigot, and he was warned and yet still continued.
At which time, via a personal message, I diplomatically suggested he comply with forum rules unless he wanted me to visit him at (listed his home and work addresses and phone numbers) to politely discuss the issue.
On here I'm just a member who follows the rules and have no need of actual addresses or phone numbers unless freely given.

Each member here can do as they please but should they run afoul of the forum rules I suspect they take their chances from the moderators as to the consequences.
It's interesting that you felt the need to mention my banning from a Mazda forum. Since I use the same name (or similar) on almost all of the forums I post on, and I don't try to hide behind other names, it's fairly easy to spot me. I don't think that you had to use any investigative tools to find out that I was banned. Again, I don't try to hide as some do.

While we're on this subject, perhaps you can tell me why I was banned? I saw something about a final warning and that was it, I was done. Funny thing is, I never received a final warning, to my knowledge anyway. Oh well.

AND, while we're on the subject of banning. Can someone please tell me how one of the members of this forum is allowed to be SO abrasive to other members of this forum and yet, never suffer any consequences? None, zero.

Off Topic but relative to resent responses by members:

Because I actually do follow this forums guidelines/RULES!
There is nothing about people that are thinned skinned individuals that get their personal feelings hurt easily. And the definition of Trolling for the most part on this forum from frequent flyers is really more or less the butt hurt member that think it fits for them to describe other members that don't follower their belief system or the true meaning of what Trolling is.
The powers that control and watch over this forum know exactly what I bring to this forum. Basically, in a nuit shell this is the most visited Mazda forum on the internet. mainly because regarding technical information that is posted is more accurate and less DIY so the members and visitors can get better information here than other forums.

Maybe a few that are regulars should take the time to WEALCOME ALL new members instead of drive-by posting a couple responses and then disappearing for a month or more? LOL

Here is another thing about knowing how a forum runs as I own a couple. Moderating control is not advertised on any thread by what they moderate what, when and where. PM are sent to members that may be close to violating the forums guidelines or rules. OR the response is simply deleted. It none of other member business! If fact on some forum the simple posting of mention moderating could technically get you banned or at least a message not to bring it up in any threads. It not members concerns and even on this thread it is frowned upon by the Admid and moderators. In other words, they know exactly who the troublesome members really are. Community members may not question or debate moderators' decisions on the forum.

This may go without saying, but I will state it here anyway: SPAMMERS, SPAMMING, TROLLING and Commercial advertising or promoting w/o being a forum sponsor are not allowed here in any way, shape or form. Activity such as described may result in immediate deletion of your post, your thread, editing of your signature or being permanently banned from the forum.
Conversely, any banned member re registering under another user name without prior consent from the ADMIN, or Super Mod will also be perm banned.

Please explain how an ordinary member of this forum could possibly find out the IP address from which another member’s post originates.
If this is indeed possible, it would be highly undesirable and a violation of members’ privacy.

How would you know?
Only an administrator or a moderator should have that kind of information.
And if you are not, it's not done for an administrator or moderator to share that information with ordinary forum members.

LOL ^^^^^^

* OFF TOPIC:
Looking into some aspect of members on forums information how to is NOT for forum publication. If you can't figure it out then maybe you should not be asking. There are countless bits of information to be gained and or accessed from many forums. But you need to first at least pay the service program provider to start your own forum and then perhaps you will learn all the advantages of owning. While knowing where to look is drastically different from making changes which only the owner of the forum or who they appoint to caregiver over the forum is aloud access to make changes.
Otherwise no one actually said they looked at any members IP only that it could be done and that some member IP should be looked at . An intelligent person would understand that was directed for the Moderator.

Oh this one I really love about some platform programs of forums the members that tend to be troublesome or need watching are on an alert list in forums. Perhaps a few of you?

* The reason on some threads I clearly post OFF TOPIC so that I am not included in a few member that are intentionally going off in a tangent of negativity which in this thread and many examples is OFF TOPIC. So by me posting that it at least indicates that I am well aware the direction the thread is heading so the proper individuals can possibly redirect or clean up the thread back on topic!
