Default Bit of a flat spot? Turbo lag maybe?

Hi all I've just bought a 2012 CX5 Sport Nav D AWD 2.2 with 84000 miles.
I'm pretty please with the car as its in really good condition but the drive is a bit jerky at low revs. It pulls away ok, and then takes off with start. Its as if there's a bit of a flat spot at the lower rev range.
I'm hoping it just needs a really thorough service . There's nothing showing on the dash and the engine sound really quiet for a diesel. Any opinion most welcome.

1st step is getting it scanned for fault codes, using a decent scan tool. ( Yes codes can be stored without the engine light illuminating )
