Unhappy Beep-beep, battery drain

I have a 2013 CX-5 Sport AWD, recently acquired used.
I have a recent issue:
- When I get in the car there are 2 beeps, which then repeats until I start it
- Battery drains when car is off. Something is draining it.
- My mechanic identified fuse 54 "Overhead Light", and fuse 28 "Transaxle Control System (Some Models), Ignition Switch". The systems behind these fuses are draining power. He did not have time to further debug the faulty issues in question.
When I turn my car off, I remove these two fuses. When I go to use the car, I put these fuses back in. This seems to reset whatever the issue is because the beep is no longer there. After driving the car a little, when I turn it off the beep-beep is back.
I would love to get a solution before I pay the mechanic, or know if anyone has had similar issues.

I recommend that you take it to a shop that either is mainly Auto electrical and HVAC or a some the employees an *ASE Trained employee. You can know this because they will advertise on their building with an ASE sign.
Electrical problems should not be handled with less then experienced individuals with some diagnostic electrical system trouble shooting experience or better actual training.

Your information strongly suggests that you not attempt to correct the problem and to seek a better Serice shop. *I would "estimate" one-hour diagnostic's and one hour labor to correct the problem after they have delivered the failed replacement parts. This is as long as it is not something damaged in the harness itself which they would find in that first hour
The shop you went IMHO and only based on your description of the service provided by you there does not sound like much more than a simple old school service shop.

I would also recommend to get the solution at least known and stop pulling out and reinstalling the fuses to temporarily stop your battery drain. You could in inadvertently cause more electrical problems.

Thank you for the advice. The shop is ASE Certified and has many decades of experience dealing with electrical issues. My mechanic is a personal friend who took a little time out of his busy day without an appointment to try to narrow down the issue, and this is what he came up with. I have the car going back in, but they are very busy and the appointment is not for a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I would love to know if anyone has seen this issue in the past, and if there is a user-friendly fix that would remedy the situation. Any ideas?

When you turn your vehicle off is the dashboard or clock still on?
Due to a faulty transmission sensor on some 2013 & 2014 models the accessory/battery will stay on after shutdown.
Until you get it to the shop appointment some owners have worked around this by turning the engine back on and shutting off in a different gear location.

This is not a what would be called a common incident
There is no "user friendly" remedy as I am sure your friend will tell you. I would wait on the finding an internet DIY "fix" because it is electrical and have your friend do the assessment and service repair.

Thanks for the help. The clock stays on. Shutting off the engine in D or N does not fix the issue.

That solution only worked for some users.
Others said wiggling the shift lever sometimes work.
The waiting sucks but the shop will fix your issue.
The clock staying on means it most likely is the transmission/shift sensor, but the techs will determine that for certain.
If that is the problem, it's an easy fix.

When mine had this problem, the engine wouldn't turn off. If you played with the shifter, it would eventually identify that it was in park and shut down. The sensor switch was bad, but it was not a replaceable part and the entire shifter had to be replaced. I recall that it was an expensive part, but it solved the problem.
