Default Battery Recharge - Jump Charger vs. Trickle Charger

Thought I would get this all out of the way at once. Sorry for two Threads.

So, everybody does something stupid sooner or later? *Yes ?

I turned off my CX-5 by button ignition switch, jumped out of Car and started cleaning off salt spray (Winter in Northeast)
and some other minor chores. I LEFT THE SHIFTER IN DRIVE. I guess a warning flashed on dashboard but I was already
out of the Car and doing things. Finished and went upstairs.

As you folks, know, leaving the Shifter in Drive leaves the Computer (and whatever else on, not lights or anything). Next
day Battery of course dead.to the bone. I only had a portable jump charger and jumped and it started after a few tries
(battery was REALLY drained). Battery is back to normal now but I believe each time you drain it to the bone like that,
you get sulfites building up on your plates -- Yes???

I also have a trickle charger (which I have to get out of storage). I believe that trickle chargers will soften up and dissolve
sulfate deposits and prolong the life of your battery if you do stupid things like I did. But the battery is already full charged
so if I put a trickle charger on it, it is not going to draw, or draw for very long, so I don't know if I will be accomplishing anything
as far as getting the sulfate deposits off before they harden

Am I making sense? Any thoughts? Thank you Reuben

If concerned get the battery load tested. And if you are lucky, you can find someone that actually knows how to use a HYDROMETER and math equations. But a good load test well tells you the current condition of the battery.

I can do both just pop on over anytime. LOL
36 hour drive for you one way LOL

Thanks for your response, Callisto.

36 hour drive should get the battery as charged as its going to get and ready for your Load Test.

Thanks again. Reuben
