Backup camera question
I know I know. I couldn't find any of the others at night. As I said, Mazda's does not look bad in the daylight...that wasn't my complaint.
i havent expereinced others at night. my daughters new toyota has back up camera, but i havent looked at it at night.
For my needs, the low res night view on the mazda more than serves its purpose of allowing me to judge distances and see if theres a object present thats not viewable in the other three mirrors

Hmm...I figured maybe it was a lighting issue, but it almost looks like they used a camera that looked great on a 5" screen and used the same one on the newer 7" screens. Sort of like trying to play an old Nintendo on a big new flat screen. Like I said, it's not the end of the world, I'm just surprised they would allow such a low quality camera image when the technology is far superior and cheap and everything else on the vehicle is so nice.
Thanks for your input. You've been very helpful, smartass punk.
Nothing smart *** about it. Its a sincere observation that quite possibly mazda doesnt care about the backup camera night quality as much as you do, and used thier time on other parts of the car. So with that said, let me know when you hear the pop. The pop you hear when you pull your head out of your ***.
I have to agree with the crap camera at night sentiment. I've never had a back up cam until now (16 CX5 GT). My girlfriend just bought a new Hyundai and hers is much better than mine is.
My biggest complaint wasn't so much with resolution as much as when it rains it constantly gets water drops on it making it almost useless. I just kept thinking they could have recessed it (or embedded it) in the tailgate a little better.
Now that I've seen hers at night, I see a big difference in resolution. I'm wondering if there isn't a possible upgrade you can get for it aftermarket.
Anyway, it's low on the priority list for me but thought I'd throw my two cents in.
P.S. I do like the idea of installing a switch to be able to use it without putting it into reverse.
