In other words you use the "Back-up" camera to aide in backing up but you don't rely only on it for the most logical reason SAFETY!

 

I wonder what would happen if one would look into the mirrors or even turn his/her head to look back, instead of asking for predictive lines on the back-up camera...

Pretty much! I have a 2018 Grand Touring and the back up camera is one of my only sources of frustration. It's not that I miss having a visible predictive path--I've never had that in any car--but the lack of detail and resolution in my screen is horrible. Don't know if the newer models like yours are any better...My son's 2016 Golf Sportwagon is much better and the camera is exposed only when you shift into reverse--hence no visible water drops in the rain to have to see through!
