Question Backup camera and boot-up visuals not displaying, occasionally

On four occasions, now, I've had the display fail to show its normal boot-up visual sequence ... with the Mazda logo and the warning note, etc. And when putting the car into Reverse, when the boot-up sequence isn't seen visually, it has failed to display the backup camera's view onto the screen.

Usually, upon starting up the car the next time, it goes through the visual boot-up sequence without issue and will show the backup camera's view on the display without issue. (Though, this last time, turning the car off and then restarting didn't actually get the screen to show anything.) Car's working fine, otherwise.

Wasn't particularly hot, nor humid, wasn't raining, hadn't rained in a couple of days. Drive the car a few dozen miles, most days. No obvious environmental or driving factors seemingly connected to this.

Has anyone experienced this, on a CX-5?

2016.5 CX-5 GT AWD, here, ~85Kmi. Generally have the display "blanked" during normal driving, though it shows the volume level if adjusting the radio and it shows the backup camera's view if putting into reverse.

My 2016.5 used to do this occasionally. It seemed to happen more after I had briefly shut down the car to gas up or grab a paper from a convenience store. After it would reboot everything was normal. It never got worse, so I didn't do anything about it.

I purchased the vehicle used, at the start of this year. One-owner (now two-owner) car. Uncertain what updates (if any) the prior owner had made.

From what I understand, the available update for this vintage CX-5 is for the Nav maps only ... not a system "flash" of the entire console/infotainment setup. If only the Nav, I can't imagine that it'd affect the backup camera functionality, though that's a guess.

The MZD/stereo system has its own software, separate to the satnav.

At the dealer, got the system O/S updated. It was two revisions down, previously.

And I downloaded and did the DIY install of the Nav/maps update.

Overall, it looks like:
  • Boot-up of the system, upon start of the car, is quicker and more consistently the same elapsed time and screen display sequence.
  • Since the update, none of the screen blanking and screen display failures have occurred.
  • Navigation system's maps are now nicely updated with recent changes in my area.

So, that's good. So far.
