Does anyone know, if I skipped the tech package, and waited for the new nav system to come out for the 2016 model, if I could then buy the head unit and install in the 2015 year and have everything working, wipers, lights, USB, etc without all the DIY I see people doing?

Thanks
I would seriously doubt you could retro fit the NAV system.

Angry Wandering Maps on the TOMTOM Nav System

Well, it's another problem with the TomTom. I was setting outside the Post Office yesterday, plugged in a new destination, and after selecting "Done" the Map display started "hunting" after about 4~5 minutes. It was like the display didn't really know where it was located. I drove a short distance and the Voice Guidance seemed to be working okay but the Map Display was STUFFED (Aussies will know what I mean).

I guess I'll have to try updating the SD disk to see what happens.

Generally, the Bluetooth works pretty well as a link to your cell phone. It does take some time to figure everything out every time you start the car but I attribute that to the fact that it downloads the phone-book from the cell phone every time it connects.

Bluetooth connection for streaming audio from your cell phone is also pretty good when it comes to music. When the program source on the cell phone is a talk show it takes a long time to sort out the connection. I suspect it has something to do with metadata that is present for music (song title?) but missing for talk shows.

Question Navigating the NAV

My current problem with the TomTom installed in the CX5 is finding the 'manage favorites' screen. Can someone please advise how to bring up this ?

Default Strange GPS routing

My Mazda GPS does some very strange and inappropriate routings. For example, I'm heading east on a highway and should turn north on an intersecting highway to reach my destination. Instead, GPS tells me to take the intersecting highway going south, then make a U-turn at the first exit and head north. The map shows all the correct roads and connecting ramps, but the router refuses to use the correct path.

Has anyone else had such a problem?

Tom Tom is a realy bad GPS. I've had it tell me to do a U turn on the freeway.
Says I'm off route often.
Sometimes the map just spins or doesn't update my location.
I often pull out my IPhone and use my phone GPS to finish the trip.
I did update the SD card once, to no avail.

There's a certain place on a major highway near me where it always says to U-turn. I've never figured out why.

Also some towns which are very old with no street information at all. I have a friend use Google maps or even maps.me in those areas.

While Tom-Tom has gotten me through some unknown areas in a major city well, it can be really inaccurate, totally idiotic, and useless, too.

I'm having a tough time getting used to this system. I don't use it enough to get good at it, and I have many years of Garmin menus in my head.
