It takes the manufacturer a while to get things right. This is why buying a new vehicle line is a gamble. After a couple years it is usually better.

Either engine (or in the case of model year 2014's both the 2.0L and 2.5L offered in North America market), the CX-5 is a huge sales success since it's launch in February 2012.

The extra 29hp is nice but hardly makes it into a high performance SUV like the 2.0L turbo Escape or Evoque, Sportage 2.0L turbo, GLK350 DI 3.5L X3/X1 turbo 4's and 6's.
