Active Display stuck and menu greyed out
If it were battery realted, you'd probably be dealing with other weird electrical gremlins too.
All mechanisms are subject to getting dirty causing them to function erratically and/or wearing out prematurely (CD/DVD and tape drives come to mind).
Any upper dash mounted mechanism would seem to me to be a super attractant for dust, dirt and insects plus the effects of extreme heat and cold.
It may just need some cleaning though I haven't foggiest what to use. There are plenty of electrical cleaners that won't damage plastics or electronics, but I have no idea what they'll do to the dash itself.

Achol is not plastic friendly
Many electrical parts cleaners have alcohol
The best way to clean a dash is a micro soft cloth and maybe a little water.
Care must be taken when using glass cleaner on the inside of the widow for fall out on dash and other non-glass or metal interior parts.
A screen protector should IMHO come with ALL center dash monitors.
A super soft paint brush or womans make brush is the best usage on the dash main gauge plastic. Or if you are careful and use only a micro buffing cloth Meguiar's plastic cleaner and polish
Small scratches and swirl marks can for the most part be polished out of clear plastic, but it takes time a patient. Even with Mazda piano black panels.
Sun protection when parked is a must to protect the dash, monitors and other electrical and interior parts . When parked there is no air circulating so the temperatures measure on surfaces tend to measure higher then while driving.
Maybe the extreme level interior cleaning would be to air vacuum the interior (easy to do) for about 15-30 minutes at least once a year. This is not proven to my knowledge to work to any degree nor have I really seen it posted on any forum other than this one. LOL
More frequent cabin filter changes or cleaning should be done. At least every new season or if air quality is low or bad then as much as monthly or sooner. This is a great argument for using a K&N cabin air filter.
The HVAC system should be cleaned before summer and before winter. Both use the air-condition system. When you use defrost your AC is actuated. Thats how the fog dries and clears the glass.

It’s definitely dusty on the dash sometimes. But the little HUD pop-up screen was really stuck. I tried to wiggle it a bit manually, but it was just stuck. Didn’t feel like some dust or something obstructing any movement.
The contact clutch/transmission is pistic and dirt accumulated can cause a sand paper effect and eventually causing a resistance to a smooth operation and likely sticking operation. The best thing at this point is do the best cleaning you can when the monitor is out paying close attention to the actuating transmission. The down side is that many times the complete removal of the monitors and transmission to clean it needs to be done.
Did you find a solution to this? Am having same issue.
did u find any solution to this issue. Happened to me. Also car no longer auto locks. Certainly appear ms to be an electrical issue of some kind.
What year and trim do you have? And how old is your battery?
