As a experiment top support the thought about changing oil reduces the engine noise I am doing a small test. I will post the main DALTA information and then do a follow up at the next oil/filter service which I do every 3000 miles.
Yesterday I changed my oil and filter for the summer months. I choose to use Full synthetic 5w30. I realize it is not 5w40 but it is enough of a difference that an idea to the thoery of changing to a higher number viscosity can reduce engine noise.
I will also do another check under the same DELTAs at the 1/2 way point of 1500 miles
Ambient temperature was 94F
Garage temperature 83F
Engine coolant temperature 188F
Transmission fluid 165F
IAT 96F
CAT 596F
The db was fluctuating between 77.2-77.8db
I will try to duplicate the close or same DELTAs and post the results when I change back to winter 0w20 @ 3k mils.
Saw this oil the other day? Can you add this to your experiments? What do you think about this stuff Callisto?
Interesting? I looked for the Federal DATA information on oil sold in USA and it is not yet listed? IDK have not used this nor have had any customers request it yet?
I do use Mobil One as a first choice oil.
Sure If I can get it a good price point I will use it at the next oil change. I will even run a tail pipe emission test just to see if there is any advantages to the ESP??
Thanks.
I would say if the price point for you is good same then go for it. There is nothing in it that would void your warranty or harm the gasoline engine.
Unless someone finds factual information that disclaims this?
I see the main market is geared towards diesel engine vehicles?
Mobil Delvac 1™ ESP 5W-40
See product DATA sheet. (not the same as what is provided to the Federal Government) but close to all the same information.
